Daniel Island Rotary members delivered 144 Thanksgiving meals to the Cainhoy Community Center. The Community Center identifies families in the Cainhoy area most in need of this support at this time. With the support of Publix Supermarkets, each family received a frozen turkey and staples to provide a meal for eight people.
The Rotary Club of Daniel Island president, Bill Stevens, shares his thoughts on the club’s accomplishments over the past six months and looks forward to the second half of the 2013-2014 Rotary year.
Daniel Island Rotary Club recently enjoyed an update from Jelani Ellington, a senior at SC State University and a recipient of the club’s Henri L. White Scholarship for college tuition in 2010. Jelani reported he’d earned another 4.0 for the fall semester, and thanked the club for their continued support. He was awarded $100 in continuing support of his academic success, and he also won a new Christmas Snuggy in a drawing! He is pictured modeling his new Snuggy with Scholarship Committee members in attendance John Common, Chad Vail, and Faith White.
At the meeting on September 25, club president Bill Stevens, presented Stephan Hollis with his white membership badge. Stephan joined our club last August and has been working as a ‘red-badger’ to earn his white membership badge. Congratulations Stephan! (Photo by Brian Calhoun)
