Rotary Club of Daniel Island Community Services Volunteer Opportunity

Project Partner – Bikes for Africa

Project Date - Sunday, January 19, 2025
Location - Credit One Stadium Parking Lot

Time - 2 PM - 4 PM

Project Description - Bikes of Africa is a joint effort with 3 other Charleston area
Rotary Clubs. We collect donated bikes from individuals that are then prepared for shipment and then loaded onto a 40’
shipping container and sent to South Africa. A container holds approximately 450 “Flattened Bikes” and the container then
becomes a permanent bike repair shop for the community. As a result, transportation becomes an option for individuals to
travel to work, educational and medical options. On January 19, 2025 we will be collecting bikes, transporting them to a
warehouse in North Charleston and begin the breaking down process. We not only need help with the process but also
transportation (pickup trucks, trailers etc.)
