Water Mission
This week our Club had the opportunity to visit Water Mission’s headquarters in North Charleston.
Water Mission, formerly known as Water Missions International, is a nonprofit Christian engineering organization dedicated to solving the global water crisis. Founded in 2001 by Molly and George Greene, the organization was born out of their response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Mitch in Honduras in 1998. The Greenes, originally operating an environmental engineering company, designed and implemented water treatment systems to provide safe drinking water in disaster-stricken areas, which led to the establishment of Water Mission.
Their mission is to build safe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) solutions for people in developing countries and disaster areas. The organization leverages innovative technology and engineering expertise to provide sustainable solutions that ensure access to safe water. Since its inception, Water Mission has served over 8 million people in more than 60 countries through over 2,800 water projects. They are based here locally but changing lives around the world with permanent country programs in various regions, including Africa, Asia, North, South, and Central America, and the Caribbean.
Thank you for all you do!
