January 15 (DI Club) --  Christian Pullano, The need for environmental impact studies.  Our own Christian Pullano is a geologist and environmental consultant who performs environmental due diligence on a wide variety of complex projects for a company called S&ME.  He has spoken to some of us about the environmental hazards that can affect any company interested in buying and selling commercial and industrial real estate.  Big projects done recently include dam removal, dam bypasses, emergency response along I-40 following the two recent hurricanes, waste management practices, greenhouse gas monitoring, earthquake engineering.  The company is very much into brownfield redevelopment, which is the process of turning abandoned, underused or contaminated properties into productive spaces.  Most of us do not think much about these challenges, but they are very real to companies interested in building on some vacant or abandoned property.
