About the event

March 22 – (Zoom) – Rear Admiral Jay Sands, Commander, Special Operations Command Africa, Navy SEAL Team EIGHT. Admiral Sands is, of course, the son of our own Jay Sands and has agreed to join us via Zoom from his headquarters in Stuttgart. He is currently the commander of Special Operations Command Africa. He is a 1992 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis and holds a Master’s in Military Strategy and Planning from the Joint Advanced Warfighting School in Norfolk, VA. His two operational tours include surface warfare officer assignments on the tank landing ship USS Saginaw, and the destroyer USS John Rogers. After graduating from Basic Underwater Demolition / SEAL training he was assigned to SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team 1. He subsequently had two tours with SEAL Team 2 and an assignment to a joint task force in Afghanistan. He commanded SEAL Team 8 and was the chief of staff of Naval Special Warfare Group 2. That is obviously an impressive resume. Admiral Sands will begin with a general overview of Africa operations and then open it up to question about special operations, Africa, and/or SEAL Teams. You do not want to miss this!
