Steve Dykes - ED, Charleston County Economic Development

May 3 (Daniel Island Club) – Steve Dykes, Executive Director, Charleston County Economic Development. Steve has been the head of the CCED since 1993 – 30 years! That means he has seen everything from the closing of the Navy base to the intense effort to rebuild the tri-county area in the wake of the base closing. Over the past 30 years he is credited with spearheading the county’s business recruitment, retention and expansion efforts which include Boeing, Mercedes-Benz Vans, Cummings, Kapstone Paper, T-Mobile, Breeze, and British Airways amongst many others. That is truly impressive! As recognition of his outstanding service to the State of South Carolina, Governor McMaster awarded Steve the Order of the Palmetto, the state’s highest honor on February 10, 2023. Steve is a true gentleman and an outstanding civil servant.
